This Saturday with the Hijackers
Buy Nothing Day Action

Following the true spirit of Buy Nothing Day the following event THIS SATURDAY (29 Nov 2008) looks guaranteed to raise a smile. It will be interesting to see how a mass of self-assured, extra ethical, eco conscious, non-shoppers (plus the press and the greedy!) are received by security as they attempt to get to grips with the finer workings of a barter economy (not such a distant prospect) in Arcadia's finest capitalist venue!

TOPSHOP SWAPSHOP
2pm Sat 29th November – Topshop Oxford Street
Credit Crunch!

Ladies and Gentlemen we are proud to announce the restyling fashion mash-up event of the year! In the light of the current economic crisis and the outrage over the sweatshop conditions that most high street brands make their clothes in, the swapshop is your chance to re-vamp your wardrobe with a free conscience! Leaping away from the drudgery of big corporate fashion with it's dodgy business practices and spend spend spend attitude, the Topshop swapshop takes fashion back to it's roots.

What's Blackle?

Blackle is a google with a black background.

So what?

Well, some clever-clogs worked out that a black version of Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year, because it uses less energy to show a black pixel than a white one. And because so many people use Google, if all the computers, all over the world used slightly less energy, it would soon add up...

So Blackle was created by Heap Media to remind us all of the need to take small steps in our everyday lives to save energy.

That's why Extra Ethical is black too!

Check out Blackle now, and if use use Google a lot, think about switching over.

Watch The Story of STUFF

The Story of STUFF is the latest animation from the fantastic Free Range Studios, presented by Annie Leonard.

Annie provides a superb overview of how rapacious capitalism is killing us all and a brief glimpse of what the alternative might look like. Highly recommended viewing.
